About BitterNotes
Origins
Originally from the North of England, but now living in London, I fell in love with the coffee scene almost out of necessity. Working in finance in the city, caffeine was a close ally. After many-a bad cup, I started buying my own equipment and fell down the same rabbithole many of us do.
Keen for all the information I could get my hands on, I found several avenues for learning. However, few of them combined the cold hard science of coffee brewing with an appreciation for its more subjective and hard-to-describe characteristics.
Number-driven by nature and by trade, I try to bring my analytical workflow into the world of coffee, being meticulous about notetaking and method. However, the ritualistic nature of a brew is a deeply set pleasure of mine, and writing about the joy a good cup brings only further reinforces it.
And so BitterNotes was born - a place for me to write love letters to my favourite drink, sing the praises of those who celebrate it and be another outpost for those lost down the rabbithole.
